Travel blogs to keep an eye on in 2011

As one of my last acts in 2010 I paid tribute to five travel bloggers for their stupendous impact on The Travelling Editor. Please do not, pray, interpret it as my limited capability of expressing gratitude. Indeed, when the year had presented me with so many opportunities to meet and befriend numerous travel bloggers – mostly, to my delight, through real-life events like the Travel Bloggers Meetups and TBEX Europe – a lot of influences is what I've been a happy recipient of.

By influence I don't just mean travel blogs and their content, layout, literature and artistry: by that I also mean the faces behind the websites and social profiles, the styles my peers travel with, their attitude to life, and above all how much some of them warm to a new acquaintance with me, how swiftly we've become friends over our passion for travel. And whilst these continue enriching and flavouring The Travelling Editor and myself – albeit in a slightly smaller proportion compared to the 'Big Five' – perhaps it's time I give them a mention and nod-of-recognition too.

So humbly, I give you a list of inspiring travel blogs – I certainly will be a faithful reader to all of them in the coming year.

Aw, Dylan you make me feel gooey in the center. :) You really made TBEX uber fun, without you it might have been stale bread.

  • http://texascity.texas-hotels-us.com/ Texas City Hotels

This is a truly inspiring list since I’ve recently decided to start my own travel blog and I wasn’t quite sure how to write. I guess I have a lot of reading to do to get a glimpse of what having a travel blog means and I’m glad I get to consult a recommended list of blogs:) Thks for the post;)

  • http://www.latortugaviajera.com Erin

Dylan, thank you so much for mentioning me – I’m blushing! I’m such a nerd – with my hectic travels between the US and Spain these last weeks, I’m only just now seeing this. I concur with your list – lots of really impressive sites. Keep me posted on when you’ll be in Madrid – we must meet up!

  • http://www.insidethetravellab.com Abi

I’m late to say thank you as well – because you were very gentlemanly about it and kept it fairly quiet ;) It was great to meet you – and great to find myself on this list! Happy travels – will you be in Manchester for the TBU?

  • http://www.thetravellingeditor.com/wp/ Dylan

@Jeannie: Henceforth I shall be addressed as de-stale-er :p Looking forward to bringing more fun to conferences and the world of travel blogging!

@Erin: You are most welcome! Yes, looking forward to meeting up in Madrid too!

@Abi: Come now, nothing gentlemanly about this ;) You are too kind. I most certainly will be at TBU, causing trouble and pimping up parties, hope to see you then! In the meantime, happy travels to you too!

Profound list Dylan! I’m a daily reader of todd’s wandering. I like his photo trivia the most. I also read his awesome adventures and pick tips from his journeys.

Thanks for the list, very useful!
